
Oklahoma has a total of 77 counties. Tax certificates are offered at the annual tax sale held in October each year.. Purchasers of tax certificates receive only 8% interest on their investment but are entitled to a deed to the property if the owner does not redeem within 2 years. Tax liens certificates are bid in by the county where there are no bidders. These certificates are assignable to any person provided application for assignment is applied for on or before the first day of the advertisement of the tax “resale.”
Oklahoma has what is entitled a "resale" when the county acquires tax certificates not redeemed within the time provided by law. At this tax resale it is possible to actually acquire the property for the total amount of taxes, penalties, and costs due at the time of the tax resale. The minimum bid is the amount of taxes, penalties, interest and costs due at that time.
